A Letter from my Heart
A personal story about heartbreak, resilience, finding clarity, and creating Still Point Clarity.

Before I Begin...

While parts of this story include my son's mental health journey, I share only what is necessary to explain my own experience and the path that led to the creation of Still Point Clarity.

His story remains his own, and I honor it with love and respect.

Dear Friend

I want to tell you a little about how I got here.

Not the polished version. Not the professional bio. The real story.

For more than twenty-five years, I have been a teacher. I've spent my career helping young people discover their strengths, build confidence, and believe in what is possible for their lives. Teaching has never been just a job for me—it has been a calling.

But over the past four years, life became my greatest teacher.

The Hardest Years

My son began navigating significant mental health challenges, and our lives changed in ways I never could have imagined. What followed was a path I never expected to walk—a journey through hospitalizations, courtrooms, crisis calls, uncertainty, heartbreak, and moments when hope felt almost impossible to find.

There were moments when I looked into my own child's face and felt as though the son I knew and loved had disappeared behind an illness I could not reach. He was still there, but there were days when neither of us knew how to find our way back.

Some experiences forever change the way you see the world.

I have sat in psychiatric facility parking lots praying for answers. I have navigated systems I never imagined I would need to understand. I have searched for hope in places I never expected to be, while carrying the quiet weight that so many parents and caregivers know but rarely speak about.

Those years stretched my heart in ways I could never have imagined. They taught me that uncertainty can become a constant companion, that resilience is built one day at a time, and that sometimes courage simply means showing up again tomorrow.

Yet beneath every difficult moment was something stronger than fear.

Love.

A love that refused to give up.

Looking back, I realize those experiences did more than shape my family—they shaped me. They deepened my compassion, strengthened my resilience, and transformed the way I listen to others. They taught me that every person carries a story we cannot see and that healing rarely follows a straight line.

Still Point Clarity was born from those lessons.

Not because I have all the answers.

But because I know what it feels like to search for them.

Today, when someone shares their story with me, I don't meet them with judgment or quick solutions. I meet them with empathy, curiosity, and hope. I believe that even in life's most uncertain seasons, we can discover strengths we never knew we possessed, reconnect with what matters most, and take one meaningful step forward.

If you're walking through a difficult season, I hope you'll know this:

You don't have to have everything figured out before you begin.

Sometimes the most important step is simply knowing that someone is willing to walk beside you.

Come with me.

WalkwithMe

The Loneliness of Crisis

The Part No One Talks About

One of the hardest parts of a long-term crisis is the loneliness that quietly settles in.

Not because people don't care.

They do.

But unless someone has lived through ongoing uncertainty, it can be difficult to understand what it asks of you. Life continues moving forward for everyone else while your own life feels suspended between appointments, difficult conversations, unanswered questions, and hoping for better days.

Over time, relationships naturally change. Conversations become more difficult. Friends and family often want to help, but they don't always know how. Sometimes support grows quieter—not because love has disappeared, but because uncertainty leaves people unsure of what to say or do.

As my son's challenges grew, so did my determination to understand what he was experiencing. I read, researched, asked questions, sought guidance, and looked for anything that might help me better support him while also learning how to care for myself along the way.

Looking back, I realize I wasn't only searching for answers.

I was searching for clarity.

For understanding.

For hope.

Those experiences taught me something I carry with me today: people don't always need someone to fix their situation. Often, they need someone willing to sit with them, listen without judgment, and remind them they don't have to navigate uncertainty alone.

That belief became one of the foundations of Still Point Clarity.

When Life Didn't Pause

When One Season of Change Becomes Many

As we were navigating my son's illness, life didn't pause.

It continued unfolding in ways I never could have anticipated.

During those same years, my father's health steadily declined, eventually leading our family into the sacred and heartbreaking season of hospice care. Sitting beside him reminded me how precious—and fragile—life truly is. It was a different kind of grief, one that invited quiet reflection, presence, and the realization that some moments cannot be hurried or fixed. They can only be witnessed with love.

Around that same season, I also experienced the loss of an important relationship. Like many losses in life, it wasn't simply about saying goodbye to a person. It was letting go of expectations, shared dreams, and the version of life I had once imagined.

There were days when it felt as though every part of my life was asking something different of me. I was learning to support my son, preparing to say goodbye to my father, grieving the end of a meaningful relationship, and quietly trying to remember who I was beneath the weight of it all.

Looking back now, I realize that Still Point Clarity wasn't born from a single difficult experience.

It was born from a season when life asked me to grieve, grow, let go, and begin again—all at the same time.

Searching for Answers

Looking for a Way Forward

Around that same time, I found myself exploring coaching and the art of navigating life's transitions. Initially, I believed I was simply searching for my next professional chapter. After more than two decades in education, I felt a quiet invitation toward something new, though I couldn't yet explain what it was.

Looking back now, I realize I wasn't just exploring a new career.

I was trying to understand how people find their way through life's most unexpected seasons.

How do we move forward when the path ahead isn't clear?

How do we continue showing up when uncertainty becomes part of everyday life?

How do we hold on to hope when the answers don't come as quickly as we'd like?

Those questions slowly became more than professional interests.

They became deeply personal.

I discovered that I wasn't only searching for a new direction.

I was searching for a way to remain grounded when life felt uncertain.

I was searching for clarity—not the kind that arrives all at once, but the kind that grows through reflection, resilience, meaningful relationships, and taking one step at a time.

Along the way, I found something unexpected.

I began reconnecting with myself.

Not the version of me shaped by crisis or consumed by uncertainty, but the quieter part of me that still believed growth was possible, that hope could coexist with hardship, and that even life's most difficult seasons could hold purpose.

That journey became the beginning of Still Point Clarity.

Not as a business.

But as a way of seeing the world.

The Birth of Still Point Clarity

The Journey That Changed Everything

What began as a mother's search for ways to support her son gradually became a journey that transformed me.

The challenges we faced didn't disappear, and there were no quick answers or perfect solutions. But along the way, something within me began to change. I learned to pause before reacting. I learned to look for strengths alongside struggles. I discovered the value of reflection, resilience, and taking one meaningful step at a time.

Most importantly, I learned that clarity isn't the absence of uncertainty.

Clarity is finding the courage to move forward even when the next step is the only one you can see.

Those lessons changed the way I showed up—not only for my son, but for my family, my work, and ultimately, for myself.

Over time, those experiences grew into something bigger than my own story.

They became the heart of Still Point Clarity.

A place where people can pause, reflect, discover their strengths, and move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and hope.

Not because life is free from challenges.

But because no one should have to navigate those challenges alone.

Clarity is finding the courage to move forward even when the next step is the only one you can see.

North Carolina

Learning to Breathe Again

There came a point when I knew I needed to step away for a while.

I packed a bag and drove to North Carolina.

I wasn't searching for answers as much as I was searching for space.

Space to breathe.

Space to think.

Space to rest.

Space to reconnect with the quieter parts of myself that had been overshadowed by years of navigating crisis.

Sometimes healing doesn't begin with finding all the answers.

Sometimes it begins by simply giving yourself permission to pause.

Eventually, family called me home.

It always does.

But I didn't return as the same person who had left.

I came home with a deeper understanding that caring for others also means learning to care for yourself—and that creating space for reflection isn't stepping away from life; it's often the very thing that helps us return to it with greater clarity, compassion, and purpose.

Discovering the Still Point

What the Still Point Means

Looking back now, I realize something important.

Those years did not teach me how to avoid falling apart.

They taught me how to come back together.

Again and again.

I learned that resilience is not about being strong all the time. It is about returning to yourself when life knocks you off center. It is about finding your footing when everything feels uncertain. It is about choosing, one moment at a time, to keep moving forward even when you cannot yet see the path ahead.

And somewhere along the way, I discovered what I now call the still point.

The still point is not the absence of chaos.

It is not perfect peace.

It is the steady place within you that remains when everything around you feels unsteady.

It is the part of you that knows who you are, even when life has changed beyond recognition.

It is the place where clarity lives.

The place where wisdom waits.

The place you can return to when you need to make decisions, navigate transitions, and move forward with intention rather than fear.

Finding that place changed my life.

And that discovery became the foundation for Still Point Clarity.

Why I Created This Work

Why Still Point Clarity Exists

I created this work because I know what it feels like to stand in the middle of a life you no longer recognize.

I know what it feels like to lose your bearings.

I know what it feels like to question everything you thought you knew.

And I also know what it feels like to find your way back.

Not back to who you were.

Back to who you truly are.

I don't come to this work from theory alone.

I come to it through lived experience.

Through loss and reinvention.

Through heartbreak and healing.

Through leaving and returning.

Through learning that our most meaningful transformation is often not becoming someone new but remembering ourselves more fully.

Who I Am Today

Still Walking the Path

People sometimes ask if I left teaching to build this business.

The answer is no.

I still teach.

I still walk into classrooms and support young people every day.

And today, I continue to walk beside my son as he navigates his own journey of mental health challenges and recovery.

Neither path is finished.

In many ways, they continue to teach me.

Still Point Clarity was never about leaving one life behind to create another. It was about allowing everything I have lived, learned, and overcome to come together in a more meaningful way.

What I've come to understand is that life is filled with transitions.

Some we choose.

Some choose us.

Over the past several years, I have experienced the transition from certainty to uncertainty, from reacting to responding, from chaos to clarity, and from losing myself to finding my way back home. Along the way, I also discovered that I wasn't becoming someone new—I was becoming more fully myself.

Each transition taught me something about resilience, trust, and the power of returning to the steady place within.

That is the heart of Still Point Clarity.

I am a teacher.

I am a mother.

I am a coach.

And each of those roles has shaped the work I do today.

The truth is that I am still walking this path myself.

Not from a place of crisis, but from a place of deeper trust, greater clarity, and a commitment to keep returning to the still point within me.

That is the practice I share with others.

And that is the journey I continue to live every day.

If You're Standing at a Crossroads

So if you are standing at a crossroads right now...

If your career no longer fits.

If a relationship has changed.

If you are carrying grief, uncertainty, burnout, or a transition you never expected...

Please know this:

You do not have to navigate it alone.

The clarity you are searching for is not somewhere outside of you.

The still point is already within you.

Sometimes we simply need someone to walk beside us until we can find our way back to it.

That is the work I am honored to do.

And that is why I am here.
